City invites residents to participate in Master Plan update

The City of Farmington is in the process of updating its Master Plan. The Master Plan is a dynamic long-term planning document that provides a conceptual layout to guide future growth and development.

According to Farmington Economic and Community Development Director Kevin Christiansen, master planning is about making the connection between buildings, social settings, and their surrounding environments. Farmington’s master plan was last updated in 2012. It is required by state statute that local governments assess their current plans every five years.

“Our plan establishes goals and priorities, along with identifying priority redevelopment projects needed to help move Farmington forward,” explained Christiansen.

Once complete, the Plan will serve as a guide for both private and public development, inform policy decisions, provide the basis for future zoning modifications, and provide the foundation for a Capital Improvements Program.

The City of Farmington invites its residents, along with any stakeholders, to the Master Plan Open House on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 5:30 pm. The evening will begin with a presentation and activities at Farmington City Offices then shift to Browndog Barlor and Restaurant for continued conversation at 8:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
