Farmington charges up and gets two electric vehicle charging stations

Red E Charging, in conjunction with the City, has installed two electric vehicle charging stations in Downtown Farmington. Both are ready for use. One of the charging stations is on Oakland Street, just west of Farmington Road by the Masonic Lodge; the other is on Grove Street at the southeast corner of Riley Park. Each station has two charging units.

“What I like about Red E Charging is that they retain ownership, install and maintain the equipment, while we help to reduce carbon emissions” explained City Manager David Murphy. “The availability of EV chargers can also help to alleviate range anxiety, which is something I’ve heard from a couple of electric vehicle drivers.”

The City received an $8,000 grant from DTE that helped offset the cost of installation for Red E Charging.
