West Parking Lot Water Main Extension & Parking Lot Closure Notice

On Monday, May 8, 2023 (weather & schedule permitting), water main improvements in the West Parking Lot (behind the businesses on the south side of Grand River, just west of Farmington Road; i.e. what was known as Page’s lot) are scheduled to begin. We anticipate the water main installation, Michigan Department of Energy, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) required testing, final connections, and parking lot restoration to be completed within 30 days.

The current water supply to the area businesses and residents will be maintained throughout the duration of the project except for a short interruption when the water services are transitioned to the new water main. Businesses and residents will be advised in advance of when these connections will be made. Please understand that schedules are always subject to change so the timing of these short interruptions are currently unknown. The anticipated area affected includes businesses south of Grand River between Liberty Street and Farmington Road.

During this construction, access to the parking lot from Grand River and City Hall will be closed. Please access the parking lot from the entrance off of State Street. Access to the rear parking spots adjacent to the Grand River buildings will also be limited during construction.

Please keep children and pets away from all construction operations.  Construction
activities, and the associated equipment that goes with it, is attractive to small children and can be dangerous. Please keep children away from the equipment, removals, mass grading, underground utility installation, hot/fresh asphalt, and wet concrete.

If you have any specific questions regarding the project, such as scheduling, parking, or access, please call the City Public Works Department at (248) 473-7250, or Mr. Austin Downie, Engineer for OHM at (734) 466-4437.

Updated information will be posted on the City website and/or posted on the City’s Facebook page as necessary.

The City and all other project team members are eagerly looking forward to the final completion of this project and the impact it will have on the Farmington community.
