2024 City Sidewalk Program to begin the week of Oct. 7
The City's 2024 Sidewalk Replacement Program is scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 7, weather permitting. The main areas of focus are: Loomis Drive, Loomis Court, Bicking Court, Ely Court, Broadview, Marblehead, Colchester, and Raphael. There will also be some work in the downtown business district in the near future.
Sidewalks will only be removed and replaced in select areas and not along entire streets. Residents living in the work zone will be at least notified 24 hours in advance if sidewalk across their driveway will be removed and replaced, affecting access.
In preparation for sidewalk replacement, residents are asked to identify and mark any and all sprinkler heads or other irrigation-related devices in their front yards. Flags or stakes work best though any marking which easily identifies the location is much appreciated. By identifying sprinkler heads and irrigation systems now the possibility for them to be damaged during construction activities is immensely decreased. If you know that you have an irrigation device in your yard and you are not able to mark them with anything, please contact one of the listed contacts and we will make sure to work with you in order to get it marked prior to the start of construction.
It is the contractor’s intention to perform the sidewalk replacement work in a manner that is minimal to traffic interruption. No road closures are anticipated for the completion of work.
Please keep children and pets away from the construction operation. Construction activities, and the associated equipment that goes with it, is attractive to small children and can be dangerous. Please keep children away from the equipment and wet concrete.
