Bear Hug Detroit donates comfort bears to Farmington Public Safety Department
The Farmington Public Safety Department is grateful to receive a box of comfort bears donated by Bear Hug. These soft, cuddly bears will serve as a source of solace and reassurance for children experiencing trauma or challenging situations in the community.
The donation is part of Bear Hug Detroit’s ongoing mission to help first responders make a meaningful connection with the youngest members of the community during some of their most challenging moments.
Officers with the Farmington Public Safety Department will distribute the bears to children they encounter during emergencies, family crises, or other distressing events. The bears offer not only physical comfort but also serve as a tangible reminder that the community cares.
“Each bear in this box is meant to serve as a symbol of care, resilience, and hope,” said Holly Hutton, founder of Bear Hug Detroit, in a letter to Public Safety. “By giving a child a teddy bear, you provide a tangible source of comfort that helps ease fear and uncertainty.”
These donations continue to help Public Safety provide this service to our residents.
“Having these comfort bears on hand is a valuable tool for our officers,” said Farmington Public Safety Director Bob Houhanisin. “They provide a small but significant way to help children feel more secure during stressful situations. We are grateful to Bear Hug Detroit for their generosity and thoughtfulness.”
