Taxpayers who need to submit Property Transfer Affidavits, Principal Residence Exemption Affidavits, or Request to Rescind Principal Residence Exemption forms to the Assessing department, may place the completed and signed original forms and copies in an envelope marked “Assessing” and:
Drop it off in one of our two drop boxes (one is in front of the City Hall entrance nearest to Liberty Street and the other is located in our east entrance vestibule).
Mail the forms to City of Farmington, Attention: Assessing, 23600 Liberty St, Farmington, MI 48335.
We recommend that you make a copy, scan, or take a photo of your form before you send them to us.
If you would like a date-stamped copy returned to you, please either include your email address for a scanned copy; or a self-addressed, stamped envelope for a copy to be mailed to you.

The City has contracted with Oakland County to provide assessing services. Under terms of the contract, Oakland County Equalization performs the following functions:
- Assesses annually real and personal property
- Prepares annual assessment role
- Attends Boards of Review
- Consults on Michigan Tax Tribunal appeals
The City continues to maintain staff at City Hall to provide personalized assistance to residents and businesses, including:
- Answering taxpayer questions
- Accessing and providing information related to the assessing role
- Providing and accepting Property Transfer Affidavits, Principal Residence Exemptions and Request to Rescinds,
- Providing copies of records, sketches, and photos
- Maintaining Sales Records
- Coordinating Board of Review appointments
All questions related to assessing should be addressed to the City’s Administrative Specialists. The Administrative Specialists will answer questions or coordinate with the County as appropriate.

Board of Review Notice
CITY OF FARMINGTON
JULY BOARD OF REVIEW
The City of Farmington Board of Review will meet electronically due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic on the following date.
Tuesday, July 21, 2020
9:00 am until work is complete.
Notice and instructions for attending will be posted on the City’s webpage at www.farmgov.com
at least eighteen hours prior to the Board of Review.
The City will be following its normal procedures for accommodation of persons with disabilities. Those individuals needing accommodations for effective participation in this meeting should contact
the Farmington City Clerk’s Office at 248-474-5500 x2218 or the City Manager at x2222.
The purpose of the Board of Review will be to correct clerical errors and review hardship appeals. For 2020, the July Board of Review will also accept late filings of qualified Eligible Manufacturing Personal Property (EMPP) and Small Business Property Tax Exemption Requests (Form 5076), protests related to the 2020 valuation, classification, or any other matters that are properly heard before the March 2020 Board of Review.
Any Taxpayer wishing to file a hardship appeal, that hasn’t already appealed hardship to the March Board, may pick up an application at the City Hall (Treasurer’s Department) or by calling Oakland County Equalization Division, at (248)858-0772. Appointments for hardship appeals will be scheduled prior to the Board of Review.
