📬 New Voter Information Cards & Precinct Updates

Voters in the City of Farmington will receive a new voter information card in the mail, as required by the State of Michigan. This update is due to recent State Senate redistricting, which places Farmington in a single Senate district beginning with the August 4, 2026 State Primary Election. The City of Farmington will now be located within Senate District 8.

In addition, some voters will also have a new precinct location. If you previously voted at Longacre Elementary (Pct. 5) or Freedom Gateway Church (Pct. 2), your new voting location will be Farmington High School (Precinct 2 or 3), as indicated on the new voter information card.

Once the new voter information card is received, no action is required from voters.

Voters who are currently on the Permanent Absentee Voter Ballot List will remain on the list and will automatically receive an absentee ballot prior to each election. No further action is required.

The biggest change to Absentee Voting in Michigan is the addition of the Permanent Absentee Ballot List. Voters who are on our Permanent Absentee Ballot List will automatically be mailed an absentee ballot for every election.

If you are not on the Permanent Absentee Ballot List but would like to be added, simply check the box on any absentee ballot application to be added. Call the Clerk’s Office to receive an application. You may also submit, in writing, the request to be added. The request can be emailed to: farmingtonclerk@farmgov.com or dropped off at City Hall.

Voter Registration

You are qualified to vote in Michigan if:

  • You are a citizen of the United States.
  • You are at least 18 years of age by election day.
  • You are a resident of Michigan and at least a 30 day resident of the city or township where you are applying to register to vote by election day.
  • How to Register to Vote

There are two options for registering to vote:

Download the Michigan Voter Registration Application, complete the application, and return it to the City Clerk in-person or by mail.
Register on line at the Michigan Voter Information Center.

Individuals are encouraged to register to vote as early as possible before an election. Methods and requirements for voter registration depend on the following deadlines:

If there are 15+ days before an election, individuals can register in-person at the City Clerk’s office or a Michigan Secretary of State branch office, on line, or by mail.

Within 14 days of an election and on Election Day, individuals may only register by visiting their local Clerk’s office to register in person with documentation of their proof of residency.
